Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim
Mawlana Sheikh Mehmet Adil (QS), sohbat, February 19, 2015.
As-salamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
Audhu Billahi min ash-shaitani rajim. Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. As-salatu wa salamu ala Rasulina Muhammad Sayyidi l-awwalin wa l-akhirin. Madad ya RasulAllah, madad ya Sadati Ashabi RasulAllah, madad ya Mashaykhina, dastur, Mawlana Sheikh Abdullah Dagestani , Mawlana Sheikh Nazim al-Haqqani, dastur.
• Jalaluddin Rumi, he is one of the biggest Sheikh, murshid and teacher.
Masha’Allah, we see these children and their Sheikh, making Jalaluddin Rumi way sama. Whirling, whirling derwish. This is good for teaching them good things from small age, beginning to learn nice thing. Because Jalaluddin Rumi, he is one of the biggest Sheikh, murshid and teacher. His father also was very big murshid, very religious scholar, alim in his time. And you know, many people they don’t know they come from Balkh. It is area Balkh. It is very far from Konya. His father, he was Sheikh of Sultan in Balkh.
Sultan was happy with him, but at the end, when Sultan don’t want to listen to him, he said, “I must go from there”. Because his father also big awliya, told Sultan to not fight with Mongols. Must be, ask them what they want. But Sultan, he was proud and not listening to him, so he said “I am leaving, you can do what you want because I know it will be not good for people here.” So he take his family and went to Konya but in many places he stopped. After 7 years he arrived to Konya and many years after, in Konya, his father he passed away.
And Mawlana, he was very connected with his father. He was very sad. Long time he didn’t speak to anybody until he slowly, slowly opened again. Time of his father was where he giving speech in mosque. All Konya people coming, listening. Ulama, scholar, mashayikh, they coming and listening to his father. He was his teacher also. Mawlana Jalaluddin Rumi’s teacher, teaching him from the books of knowledge. All knowledge he was showing him. Every book he was giving him exactly meaning and wisdom.
He was in highest in knowledge around. After his father he was the highest one. All the ulama, they’re waiting him to give them lessons, when sheikh, but he was unhappy, so he couldn’t do this for a long time. After slowly, slowly, he began and he was like his father. All ulama accepting him, they are happy with him. Everywhere was full up. You cannot find a place in mosque to listen to him. They were coming, sitting outside also. But he was feeling he needs more. It was not enough for him, this knowledge, because knowledge is not enough to know, and to be in real love with Allah.
• So he was seeing in his dream, in Damascus, Shams Tabrizi.
There must be somebody teaching. So he was seeing in his dream, in Damascus, Shams Tabrizi. Unfortunately, we won’t speak too much in detail but after this Shams Tabrizi coming to Konya and meeting him there. And he accept him to be his guide to true love. But of course his type of speaking, or behaving, or wearing, it was different from that area and people, they weren’t happy with him. And he was giving himself completely to Shams Tabrizi and was making khalwat and speaking with him.
Sometimes days they are not going out, only speaking. So people were not happy at all with Shams Tabrizi. Ulama, everybody, they are angry and said “He take our Sheikh from us. He’s not good man. How Mawlana following him?” They were not happy with Shams Tabrizi. Long story to say but the main thing is that Mawlana was in highest place in knowledge, in ilm. And he was knowing the value of Shams Tabrizi and he was not listening to anybody. At the end of course, some people, they make Shams Tabrizi shave and they disappear him. Nobody can find him, where he is.
• The Mathnawi Shareef
Of course, for Mawlana Jalaluddin Rumi it was a terrible thing but because he was learning from Shams Tabrizi to accept everything, he was patient and he put his pain to be away from his guide, his teacher and the most loved one in the world. It is not easy but from teaching of Shams Tabrizi, he was carrying this. And he write many books. The famous one, the Mathnawi Shareef. Mathnawi, it is real incredible book. It is teaching and showing the finest details in human being. There are many stories, many wisdoms, it is really very nice book, it is poems. He make it in poem, more than 5,000-6,000 piece, poems.
It is beginning from poem, speaking about bamboo because they make this ney from it. Describing that it was in bamboo field and somebody coming, cutting it. In this he also described himself. After they make opening on its body to make hole. After this they putting in oven, burning little bit. After this it is making this sad, nice voice coming from the ney. First it must suffer to be different from other. This is from his teaching, nice teaching. Many stories also inside this book. Some of them funny but it’s nice, very nice.
I will speak one other. They say one time there was one trader in one place and he was broke, aflas, and because people, they know him he’s trader, so he was going here and there and taking, saying, “I give you later”, and he don’t have money. He couldn’t give anything but people, they were angry and said for government “This man making this for us”. So what they will do? Old time there is custom. City, old time it’s not big, maybe in one day they all can go around and tell people for this man.
They put him on camel. One camel, it was belonging to one Kurdish man. They put this man on top of camel and Kurdish man, he going with him. And another man, old time no media, so one strong voice, he was announcing to people, “O people, this man he is broke, don’t give him anything, if he wants, none, or if he want something, he says “I will give you later”. Don’t give him because you cannot get it anymore and government not responsible for this.” Every small street, everywhere from morning until nighttime, they were going and this Kurdish man, the owner of camel, together.
So it must be, everybody they hear about this man. And night time, they said “Ok, finished.” And say to this man “Ok, you go”. Because old time: al muflasun la yahbasun. If anybody is broke, you cannot put him in jail. So he want to leave and go, this Kurdish man who owned camel. He said “Give me my wages, all day I was with you. All day I’m tired, give me my money.” They said, “What are you talking about? Today from morning to evening, there was this man announcing, you didn’t hear?”
Mawlana Rumi is showing this about people who are in life. Every minute Allah gives them example, “Don’t do this, don’t do that. Do this, do that.” And at the end, they are coming without anything. This is the loser, like this man. So he is teaching millions of people. Non- Muslims also, they are interested for this book. They are attracted for this whirling dancing also. Many people became Muslim also from this. And he was real ahl al-sunnah wa l-jama’a. He was against these pretending people. Alhamdulillah tonight, maybe from these people his baraka is coming on us. From his baraka also.
Wa min Allahi tawfeeq. Al-Fatiha.

Mawlana Sheikh Mehmet Adil (QS), sohbat, March 19, 2015, Lefke-Cyprus
As-salamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.
Audhu billahi min ash-shaytani r-rajim. Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. As-salatu wa s-salamu ala Rasulina Muhammadin Sayyidi l-awwalina wa l-akhirin. Madad ya RasulAllah, madad ya Sadati Ashabi RasulAllah, madad ya Mashaykhina, dastur. Madad ya Mawlana Sheikh Abdullah Faiz Dagestani, madad ya Mawlana Sheikh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani, dastur, madad.
Allah Azza wa Jalla wishes goodness for people but shaitan doesn’t wish goodness, he wishes badness and evil for people.
Audhu billahi min ash-shaytani r-rajim. Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim:
Qul bifadli Allahi wa birahmatihi fabidhalika falyafrahu huwa khayrun mimma yajmauna (10:58).
With the Grace and Mercy of Allah, Allah Azza wa Jalla says to rejoice, be reassured, this is better than everything you collected from possessions of dunya. Allah is ordering us to be reassured, to not be sad. Why are you being sad? Allah’s Grace and Mercy are upon you. He brought you to this way therefore, no need to be sad. Be always happy, be joyful. Allah Azza wa Jalla has given the biggest favour. His Grace and Mercy are not meant to be given to everyone because who is brought to the right way has entered the right way by Allah’s Grace. Then it is said in the same surah, in Surah Yunus:
Ala inna awliya Allahi la khawfun alayhim wala hum yahzanuna (10:62). Alladhina amanu wakanu yattaquna (10:63).
Saints of Allah meaning, the beloved servants of Allah have neither fear, nor sadness. They have no sorrow. Why? Because they fear only Allah and they avoid badness. Such a person won’t fear anything because he knows what to fear. There is a Day of Judgment, Day of Qiyama. There is facing Allah. If one has to face after doing badness then he will be afraid. But when he is as Allah says, he becomes of the beloved people of Allah, of saints. Not necessarily to show miracles or to manifest, just to do what Allah says and you’ll be a beloved servant of Allah.
You will have deserved Allah’s Mercy. You will be in comfort both in dunya and in akhira. Allah Azza wa Jalla does not say be sorrowful in dunya. Be happy, because you have the biggest favour. Whatever happens, despite trouble, poverty, famine or drought, Allah Azza wa Jalla says be happy, be reassured and do not be sad. His Grace and Mercy are upon you. When someone obeys this order of Allah, indeed he becomes relieved and nothing can affect him. Ninetynine percent of this world is sad. They are always in sorrow.
Allah Azza wa Jalla says to not fall into worry and sadness. Be relieved that you are on this way, be always in ease. He is giving the good news. Allah Azza wa Jalla, what is His order? What He wants? He wants people to be happy. He said He is Generous and His order, gift : Be happy.
Qul bifadli Allahi wa birahmatihi fabidhalika falyafrahu (10:58)
Be happy with this. Don’t be sad, don’t be anxious, don’t be in darkness. No, Allah He is showing people and ordering people to be happy. But how? Follow His order. When you follow His order, you’ll be happy. And the other ayah also in this same, Surah Yunus:
Ala inna awliya allahi la khawfun alayhim wa la hum yahzanuna (10:62) Alladhina amanu wa kanu yattaquna (10:63)
These awliyaullah, the beloved servants of Allah they don’t have any fear and no sadness for them. Why? Because they’re believers and they are afraid to do wrong things. Not afraid from Allah, afraid to do wrong thing. They are ashamed to do anything against Allah and they’re afraid to be in wrong way. They don’t have any sadness, any fear. This is Allah’s order, it is a shortcut. Don’t be sad He said. Don’t be anxious for your life, for “how I can do this, how I can do that?” No need to be worried. Don’t worry, be happy. This is order of Allah.
Only do what He is telling you. After this there will be no sadness in your heart because sadness, when you do wrong thing becoming one point of black, as you do another one, another point, until it will be all completely black and you’ll be in dark mood, You see everything bad, you see everybody bad, and you’ll feel yourself in prison. No, Allah showing us all best way to do.
Who is cheating people? Shaytan and his followers, they’re cheating them and they’re all the time worried, they’re angry with people, angry with government, they’re angry with religion, they’re angry with family. This is shaytan teaching. Allah is not teaching this, Allah ordering to be good with everybody, and to be specially good with Allah and to follow His orders. And after this you will be happy.
Wa min Allahi at-tawfiq, Al Fatiha.

Sultan Sheikh Mehmet Adil Al-Haqqani (Qs),
Sohbat of the 2nd of January 2015, Lefke – Cyprus
As-salamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh. Audhu billahi min ash-shaytani r-rajim. Bismillahi r- Rahmani r-Rahim. As-salatu wa s-salamu ala Rasulina Muhammadin Sayyidi l-awwalina wa l-akhirin. Madad ya RasulAllah, madad ya Sadati Ashabi Rasulillah, madad ya Mesha’ikhina, Madad Ya Sheikh Abdullah Daghistani, Sheikh Muhammad Nazim al-Haqqani, Dastur. Tariqatuna s-sohbah, wa l-khayru fi jam’iyyah.
“There is no limit or bounds to the miracles of our Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam).”
Today, praise to Allah, 2 holy days have occurred together. It is Friday, Friday is a holy celebration day for Muslims, and it’s the birth day of the Prophet, the greatest celebration day. This is our Eid. Those who know its value, they will benefit. They will receive spiritual fa’iz, baraka/blessings, and nur/light. Because our Prophet is not in need of us. Even though, he constantly prayed – “Ummati, ummati, O my nation. O Allah, don’t let my nation stray from the right way, don’t throw them in hell fire.” It was like that from the moment he was born – that was a miracle.
There is no limit or bounds to the miracles of our Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam). Since he is a Prophet, he should perform miracles. Prophets have miracles. A miracle is different from karamat/supernatural wonders. Awliya perform karamat but Prophets always have miracles. Many miracles happened on the birth day of our Prophet. A part of Kisra’s(Persian king) palace was destroyed. The fire that they worshiped for 1,000 years was extinguished. That fire had never been turned off before. There were many miracles like that on the day our Prophet was born.
People in the past knew different types of knowledge than the people of today. Don’t think that people in the past were living without knowing anything. They were smarter than you and me. They knew. That’s why they were following and keeping track. They understood from the stars and the sun. There were astronomers who studied what events will happen, occur. By Allah’s wisdom, they were given that ‘ilm/knowledge. Since our Prophet was the greatest and the most valuable, the Jews were looking/waiting (for him). Before our Prophet was born, it was known that a Prophet will come, that Muhammad will come. No one used the name, Ahmad. But several people used the name Muhammad. A Prophet called Muhammad will come. At that time, many people used the name Muhammad, so that the Prophet would be from them.
So it was known, but when our Prophet came, they were stubborn. Most didn’t become Muslim. But after, whether by force or voluntarily, they couldn’t deny it any more, and when everyone else became Muslim, they also became Muslim. They didn’t accept it because it was new/different. Satan made them to not accept. People nowadays are the same.
2 days ago, there was a great commotion to make preparations everywhere for the new year. They made parties here and there and did this and that. “Let’s have fun.” Why? “Because of the new year.” The new year didn’t give you anything. Who gave you all these favors? Allah gave you these favors. And Allah’s Beloved servant is our Prophet, Hz. Muhammad (SallAllahu alaihi wa sallam). That is why the ayah we read in the khutbah – Laqad kana lakum fi rasuli Llaha uswatun hasanatun (33:21)”Our Prophet is the best example” for people to follow. The kamil/perfect man, the greatest of all mankind. There is nothing in the universe more exalted/sublime than he, our Prophet. You are his nation – Be proud. You can’t be proud of anything else. We can’t be proud of our race, or leaders. There’s only one thing to be proud of. This is a big grant.
To be from the Nation of our Prophet is the greatest grant for us. Shukr to Allah. We must be thankful. Every day there should be 2 raka’at shukr prayer in our tariqa for being in this religion, for being on this way. We are praying 2 rak’at shukr for the saints and the guides and the Sheikhs who are reaching him (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam). There should be shukr prayer every day. You can pray whenever you can, either morning or evening, Allah (‘Azza wa Jalla) is showing us the way to what we should do. He (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) is a good leader, a good teacher. He is a good shepherd. We are proud to be from his herd. Because a good sheperd doesn’t leave his herd to go down a bad path. We are following him. We are declaring that we are from his nation, and we are happy and proud. Those who deny being from his nation, it is their choice. If you don’t acknowledge him, then Allah doesn’t acknowledge you.
Allah protects our Prophet. Allah doesn’t let anyone say anything bad about the one He loves. Those who do say (bad things) will suffer in the hereafter. Both in the hereafter, and in dunya. No baraka in dunya or akhira. Baraka is with our Prophet. If you have any trouble, if you face any problems, mention the name of our Prophet, recite salawat. That will give you comfort. It is a shifa’/cure for everything. It is strength. Don’t take it for granted. That is why Sulayman Chalabi is saying that this night is like Laylatu l-Qadr. And it is really like that. So we have reached a great, important night. May Allah wake up the believers.
2 nights ago, they celebrated a made-up celebration. I don’t know if it was just me, but we didn’t even notice that the new year came. Allah knows best, but because of our Prophet’s Mawlid, Allah made this new year to pass by unnoticed, because it happened very close (to mawlid). Shukr to Allah, we hope it will be more insignificant every passing year. May Allah guide these people to the right way, so they see haqqiyah/truth. This is real, the other one is false. But they celebrate it every year. If you are 30 years old, that means you have been celebrating for at least 20, 25 years. If you are 50, then you have been celebrating for 40 years. You are getting older. If you reach 90 years old, then there is nothing left to celebrate. But our Prophet’s mawlid – the more you live, the more you celebrate, the more fa’iz and baraka you will receive.
Committing sins is a feature of mankind. Allah says – if these people do not sin, I will create new ones so they will sin and I can forgive them. Let them seek forgiveness so I forgive them. 2 days ago many wrong things were done. Allah has opened the gate of forgiveness so that their wrongdoings do not affect you. That gate is still open. Those people may seek forgiveness and repent. They may plead to Allah that they won’t do something like this again. And they will be saved. But if they insist on doing the same thing again, then it is up to them. It will not harm Allah (‘Azza wa Jalla). Because Allah created everyone Himself. Do as much as you like, go crazy, but it doesn’t matter.
But as we said, Allah (‘Azza wa Jalla) has shown us the right way. Follow the Prophet. Do what he (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) did. His (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) manners, his habits/temperament, and the things he did, that is the best. “uswatun hasana” – that means the best is with our Prophet. The greatest miracle of our Prophet, after the miracle of the Qur’an, was that he was illiterate. That means our Prophet could not read or write. But our Prophet made such a system that – He taught people from the finest details to the most difficult matters in only 23 years. He taught Muslims – actually he taught all of mankind so that they learn and will become Muslim. Forget about 23 years, but for 1,400 years, scholars are still finding new knowledge from the teachings of our Prophet from those 23 years and it is still not finished.
If he (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) could read and write, they might say – he (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) read & learned this from somewhere else and that is how he is teaching us. Even if he could read, it would normally be impossible to do it in 23 years. Everything from A to Z, everything from alif to ya, our Prophet taught us. There is nothing that he didn’t show mankind. That is why this is a great miracle. He was an orphan and he was illiterate. When Allah gives, He gives like this (endlessly). Since he is a true Prophet, there are millions of proofs, millions of signs, and most important of all – Allah is witnessing. Allah is his (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) witness. It is said, wa kafa biLlahi shahidan.(48:28) (Allah suffices as a witness) By Allah’s mercy, may He grant us to be worthy of the Prophet’s (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) shafa’a/intercession. We are in need of his (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) intercession on Judgment Day.
“These are the salafi and wahhabi people. Even if their name isn’t ‘wahhabi/salafi’, anyone who thinks like this is considered to be from them. Because this way of thinking belongs to them.”
There are 2 groups. One group, as we said, they’re celebrating (new year) – they don’t know about Prophet or religion – but some do know. The second group is a new group. By Allah’s wisdom there are not many of them in our country. But those who are studying in religious schools, I think they are getting proud. More than they are learning knowledge, they are becoming proud. They are not accepting the intercession of our Prophet. They say – we will be accountable for our own selves. They are the type of people who say – there is Allah, so we don’t need the shafa’ah of the Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam).
These are the salafi and wahhabi people. Even if their name isn’t ‘wahhabi/salafi’, anyone who thinks like this is considered to be from them. Because this way of thinking belongs to them. Because all Muslims, up until the Ottomans, all accepted shafa’ah/ intercession. They never lost their respect, reverence for the Prophet. But these new people, may Allah grant them good understanding. What can we say. They claim they are not wahhabi or salafi – No, you are both salafi and wahhabi. And another important thing, I will say it here again – There is someone called Sayyid Qutb. He is not a scholar, he is a psychologist. He wrote a Qur’an tafsir, called Fi Dhilali l-Qur’an,(In the Shade of Quran) and all our Islamic Studies teachers consider him with high regard. The content of that book is against the Sunnah and Shari’ah. It is very common but real scholars know what it really is. And people of tariqah know. But those who are not following tariqah guides, like those studying Islamic Studies, do not know. 90 percent of them use this book. They revere him. And he is the chief salafi. Be careful about that.
“Do not give value to the new books that were written after the Ottoman period, because very rarely will you find a good, true person.”
You can read the books of Imam Ghazali or Imam Rabbani. Do not give value to the new books that were written after the Ottoman period, because very rarely will you find a good, true person. Most of them are coming as enemies to Islam. They appear to be Muslim, appear to be haqq, but they are satans. Don’t follow them. Like we said, they are known – they don’t have respect or esteem for our Prophet. Allah won’t give them a good reputation. Anyone who follows them is overcome by disasters. They are causing trouble everywhere, they are ruining Islam. And that is what enemies of Islam want. May Allah protect us all and give us correct understanding. And especially those studying Islamic Studies – may Allah not leave them to their egos, because they are in contact with a large population of people. If they ruin the beliefs of people, they will be held accountable. When those people enter the presence of the Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) – actually they cannot enter his presence. Prophet won’t accept them in his presence. Go with your deeds to the scale, and let’s see if you will be saved or not.
For the sake of this holy day, may Allah give them a correct way of understanding. They should think well, because our Prophet said – 1 hour of thought is better than 100 years worship. They should consider well and then go to address people.
“Allah sent him (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) as a mercy for all of us, for all of the universe.”
Alhamdulillah, today we reached to feast together, Juma day and the birth of Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam), Sayyidina Muhammad (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam). Allah sent him (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) as a mercy for all of us, for all of the universe. And the whole universe, Allah created for him (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam), for his sake. And we are thankful for Allah, to be in his Nation, of Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam). It is big honor and it is big favor for us. In our tariqah, we must pray every day, 2 rak’at shukr for all these favors that Allah gives us and especially to be in His most Beloved Prophet’s, Sayyidina Muhammad’s (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) Nation.
Alhamdulillah, hundred times, thousand times, million times, we are following him, and we love him (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam). Because he said – “If you love Allah, follow me, and Allah will love you.”(3:31) Allah loves who follows Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam), who follows his orders, and (who) accepts Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam). Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam), he is most precious for Allah. We are nothing. Only Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam), he is everything. And his birth, it was a miracle also. Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) and all Prophets have miracles. But Prophet Muhammad (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam), he has more and more, thousand, more than thousand, or more than thousands. Especially, even when he was born, many things happened. Especially in Iran, this fire they were worshiping – all the Iranian people they were worshiping fire, and it is holy fire for them. For thousand years not turning off. But when Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) born, it was turned off. And some of his palaces breaking. There were many things it was (happening) that night. And especially when he was born, he was speaking – “Ummati, O my nation. (To) Allah, he prayed for (his) nation. He was in sajdah, and making, praying for his ummah, to save them. He’s the most merciful for ummah.
But many people, new type of Muslims, they are not accepting shafa’ah(his intercession) They said – no need (for) this. And especially, these people, they are wahhabi and salafi, they say for themselves. They call themselves salafi, but salaf salih – they are saying, “we are imitating salaf salih.” What meaning salaf salih? After sahaba, those who are following Islam. And they said – these people, they were doing like us. No, they weren’t doing this. They were accepting shafa’a and accepting Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam). But there was another kind of people, they are also, they were worshiping more than sahaba, praying, fasting more than sahaba, but they are out of Islam, Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) said. Because they were fighting Muslims, making fitna, like these days. Exactly, this is what they’re following, not salaf salih. Salaf salih were respecting and accepting and there were many of awliya’ullah in that time.
And especially, I said for, in Turkey or in our country, there’s not much from this kind of people. But there is a kind, they’re cheating, beginning to cheat who are studying Islamic Studies. And they are looking for a new thing. And maybe 90 percent of these people, they like this man who is called, Sayyid Qutb. Sayyid Qutb, he is the most Wahhabi one. He writes tafsir, Fi Dhilali l-Qur’an, it is against Shari’a even. It is not acceptable for tariqa or for shari’a. But these people, they are following, they are happy to read this. But it is not good. The good thing, you can read Imam Ghazali, or you can read Imam Rabbani. If you are intelligent, or you like to read something, or you’re studying Islamic Studies, you can read this. But not for who is making your belief to make it wrong and teaching people wrong.
Most imams, they are from this school, and when you speak to them, you feel something wrong. And they like to do something good, but they are doing wrong. This is fitna of satan. So we are happy, we must be happy for Mawlid of Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam). We must celebrate everywhere. Even in all this (entire) month, we must celebrate, we must be happy. To be happy with this, it is worship. Because Allah (‘Azza wa Jalla), He ordered us to praise Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) every time. He not saying this time also (in particular) but when you praise in these occasions, you’ll be more happy. More… Allah gives more power in your iman/faith. To follow and to love Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam), this is real iman.
And in the ayah that we read in the khutbah – “laqad kana lakum fi rasuli Llahi uswatun hasana” (33:21) Allah give Prophet every good thing (quality), who must people to follow him. You must follow him, exactly what he’s doing. What he teach you, it is right. Also, biggest miracle from Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) – to be not writing (and reading). Not reading or writing. No schools at that time- illiterate. And for 23 years he built the system that it is the most complete, the top, and the most perfect system in the world, since Adam (as) until now. So, until now, scholars and ‘alims, they are still, they couldn’t finish this knowledge from Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam). Still doing, still looking. How in 23 years he (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) make everything. (An) illiterate person. It must be a miracle. There’s thousands of miracles, but even (especially) for this miracle, all world must become Muslim and accept Islam. And it is impossible to do this – for one man, only by himself, in the desert. Even he was in desert, because if he was in city, in big cities, they might say that someone helped him. But there was nothing. All around there were enemies for him.
So, it is the biggest miracle. And we are happy to accept him. And we like everyone to accept him. The real celebration is tonight, not what people were celebrating before 2 days. It is nothing, before 2 days – One year coming, one year going, you got anything? You feel more better, you feel more stronger when one year coming and going? No, just, nothing to be happy, but people are following ego and ego taking them wrong. Allah created us and showing us who to follow. “laqad kana lakum fi rasuli Llahi ‘uswatun hasana” (33:21) Allah orders – you must follow Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam), everything he do is good. And good for you, here and hereafter. Even in dunya also, you be with the baraka of the Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam). Everything you can get from his baraka. All barakah Allah gave him (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam).
(May) Allah make these people, who are not respecting or knowing Prophet, to know him, to respect him, to accept him. We are not jealous – only to make for us – we are happy when people becoming more and more, we are happy more and more. This is teaching of Prophet (sallAllahu alayhi wasallam) – to not have envy, to be happy with new people coming to Islam. Every person, bringing to Islam, to right way, Allah give you also, reward you for him. Alhamdulillah, this is endless generosity from Allah.
Wa min Allah it-Tawfiq, Al-Fatiha.
Sultan ul-Awliya Mawlana Sheikh Muhammad Nazim Al-Haqqani An-Naqshibandi (qs), Sohbat – 1989.
(Dhikr Allah) is the means to sweeten our lives. Whoever makes dhkir for Allah and recites salawat sharif for our Prophet, alaihi s-salatu wa s-salam, their lives and lifetimes will be both blessed and sweetened.
Whoever wants a blessed and a sweet life must hold their tongues from empty words. When one keeps oneself busy with empty and useless deeds, it impoverishes one. Moreover useless talking shortens life. It lessens the baraka of a lifetime. Dhikr Allah gives Baraka/blessing to your life. It gives health to your body. Therefore, busy yourselves with dhikr/remembrance of Allah as much as possible. Busy yourselves with reciting salatu salam to our Prophet too. Because when we say “la ilaha illa Llah”, we go to His Presence saying “Muhammadun Rasulullah”. La ilaha ill Llah. When we make dhikr of Janabul Haqq we say “Muhammadun Rasulullah”. We will greet him too, with salatu salam. Janab Allah will not accept the tawhid of those who don’t say Muhammadun Rasulullah. Whoever says “La ilaha illa Llah” must continue with “Muhammadun Rasulullah” (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam).
Because in the Divine Diwan/court of Janabul Haqq there is no one else who can reach to the station of our Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam). Janab Allah has granted the highest honour to our Prophet, to whom He said “My Habib”, My beloved one. The highest honour belongs to him. He is the greatest. Among all creation, there is no one greater than him, more honourable than him, more valuable and more worthy than him. Just as he is valuable in Janab Allah’s Presence, he is high, honourable and glorious, so Allah wants His servants to keep the Prophet like this. That is why as much as you honour our Prophet, Janabul Haqq is that much pleased by your honouring, presenting your respect and admiration to our Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam). There is no limit for this.
We are ahlu sunnah wal jamaa. Upon sunnah; both our belief and our religious practice depends on ahl as-sunnah wal jamma, inshaAllahu r-Rahman. So to what extent can we honour our Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam)? Apart from naming him as God, except calling him God, you can honour him as much as you like. Don’t call him Allah. Christians were confused to accept their Prophet as God and to make people accept him as God. They fell into the wrong way, they went astray. Jews didn’t show the necessary respect for their prophet, so they became “maghdubun alayhim” (1:7). “Maghdubun alayhim” Divine Wrath descended on them.
We are Muslims. All deeds of Muslims, all religious beliefs, all practices are reasonable, reliable and correct. So how much can you show your respect to our Prophet? Do as much as you can but don’t call him God like the Christians call their prophet, God. But do call him the greatest – among created beings he is the highest, the most beloved, the most valuable one. His greatness cannot be known completely even by prophets, awliyas and campanions. Only Janabul Haqq knows the greatness given to our Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam). This is why Allah wants: “Whenever My Name is mentioned let your name be mentioned too, O My Habib.” This is what Allah wants. So whoever makes dhikr for Allah let him recite salatu salam for our Prophet also. Dhikr is glorifying Janab Allah. Salatu salam is to honour our Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam).
As much as you can recite it relieves you from the troubles of the material world. Relief/joy is given to your spirituality, and the Divine Breath of Al Haqq, life is blown to your being. You may discover a different state. So take this into consideration! Keep the daily dhikr and salatu salam of our Prophet properly if you want comfort, peace, happiness, and a sweet life.
Otherwise you cannot get it by money. Money doesn’t sweeten life. Don’t be a fool! Those are the words of a fool! Don’t think that people have a sweet life when they have lots of money. It is faulty judgement, it is foolishness, to think like that. No! Whose life is sweet? Whoever makes more dhikr, whoever recites more salatu salam to the Prophet, their lives become sweet. Not the ones who have a lot of money. Come to your senses! O believers! Say Allah! Recite salatu salam on the Prophet. It sweetens, softens and beautifies life. There will be nothing to hurt you. Thorns won’t hurt strongly, but pass by gently. By Divine Will thorns will be passed over softly and won’t hurt. They will be softened. Say Allah! May Peace be upon the Prophet!
Bi hurmati l-Habib bi hurmati l-Fatiha.
Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim
The venerable Khwaja Muhammad Nazim (Qs) said,
InshaAllah this is a technique which will be useful to all of you after I leave your physical presence and go away. You will be in need of this technique. In this life, our physical meetings shall come and go. It is not possible for a person to always be in company with another person, whether they be husband and wife, parents and children, brothers and sisters or amongst the most beloved one. A person may never desire to be far away from his loved ones. However, it is written that it should take place, Firaq, means separation and at sometimes everyone must enter and depart. As far as our physical bodies are concerned it is written that we cannot be together always. It is just not possible. However, spiritually we have been given a power and technique by Allah Almighty to be always together at anytime that anyone may ask for such a meeting. This is possible because our spirituality has a possibility to be in connection. When we remember that person, our spiritual being always will be able to be in such a connection with that person.
These connections have so many levels. Perfect Awliya are always in connection with RasulAllah (peace be upon him). Anytime they want such a connection they should find themselves immediately in the holy presence of RasulAllah (sal lallahu alaihi wa salam). They never leave RasulAllah’s spiritual presence. This technique is known as Hudhur Ma Rasul – that is; connection with the Holy Prophet upon whom be peace, people belonging to Tariqat are stepping in this direction to obtain such a connection.
As we are just beginners, we should first practice an easy way. This easy way is Hudur-Ma-Shaykh; that is to be in connection with your Shaykh. Anytime that you think of your Shaykh, you may say “I am in the holy presence of my Grand Shaykh”. At first you may not see him, but a feeling of his presence may be felt by you. These feelings are of different levels. A simple connection is to feel your Shaykh’s presence always then gradually you may come to the level of feeling the breathing of your Shaykh. Then further on you may see your Shaykh in front of you making the Dhikr ‘Allah, Allah’ and thereby giving power to you and you look at him and follow him. Then you will be present with your Shaykh for your entire life. Thereafter you shall find yourself in the presence of the whole circle of the lovers of your Grand Shaykh.
Then when that connection becomes perfect you will be able to see your Shaykh sitting with you, coming with you, going with you, being with you, being in you and surrounding you, then the Shaykh shall be in you. You will then become changed to the personality of your Shaykh. That is known as Fana-u-fi-Shaykh. You will leave your being and the personality and power of your Shaykh will appear through yourself and then you become the Representative of your Shaykh. Then, your Shaykh, through that personality will take you to the Holy Presence of RasulAllah (sal lallahu alaihi wa salam). Then RasulAllah (sal lallahu alaihi wa salam) will dress you in his spiritual body and then you will become the Representative of RasulAllah (sal lallahu alaihi wa salam). RasulAllah (sal lallahu alaihi wa salam) is Dahir, He appears through yourself. Then, RasulAllah (sal lallahu alaihi wa salam) will take you to Hudhur-al-Haq (the presence of The Truth, to the Divine Presence of The Lord Allah Almighty). Allah Almighty will then dress you with Divine Light and then you become annihilated in Allah (Fana-u-fillah). Then you will be leaving everything in yourself and Divine Lights will appear through yourself and you will then become Khalifatullah (Representative of Allah). You shall then represent Allah to the whole universe and then He shall give this power to you (ayat) “tassarusal tasliq”– that is to be able to do everything throughout the whole of creation and through all the universes according to His Divine Will. That is Khalifatullah. All the Laws and Shariat that has been sent down through the Prophets and Ambiyas are to teach people and guide people to this station. When you reach the station of Khalifatullah, you achieve the final aim of all Shariat and all Tariqat.
Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim
Shaykh al-Akbar, Sultan ul-Awliya Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Al-Haqqani An-Naqshibandi (Qs), Sohbat of the 5th of February, 2014.
Marhaban, O yaran Shahi Mardan. Let us start. Let us say Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. The Name that makes the Earth & the Heavens tremble- Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. O our Lord! You granted us this. May You forgive our sins, O our Lord. As-Salamu Alaikum!
Shaykh Mehmet Effendi, sit comfortably. Sit comfortably, sit comfortably. We are saying “Sit comfortably in the assembly”, the order is like this- O yaran Shahi Mardan. (So that) the Ahbab of Shahi Mardan may not be burdened with any difficulty, they may be in comfort. Thanks to Allah. How beautiful. Tariqatuna as-sohba- “Our way is through association”, all the mashayikh would say. Our Shaykh Sultanu-l Awliya also says like this. Tariqatuna as-sohba- Our way is through association. What is sohbat? It is the way of being ahbab/lovers. For whom? For the lovers. For the lovers. May love be a dress for us.
Dastur O Rijal Allah, madad O Shahi Mardan. I say “Dastur”. Insan/Man is really the “Hazrat al-Insan”. Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar wa Lillahi l-Hamd. He is Who creates, He is Who keeps us alive- Allahu Dhu-l Jalal. Thanks to Allah- He dressed on us from the dress of the universes of existence, that we appear in existence. If He doesn’t dress, we can’t be seen. (Otherwise) one is left in the universe of ghayb-unseen. All Praise/Hamd be to Allah Almighty, thanks be to Him that He dressed on us a beautiful shape. He granted us spirituality. He made us from the nation of His Great Habib (sallAllahu alayhi wasalam). He also called us “My servant”.
“Ya ‘Ibadi Fattaquni”(39:16). Allah Allah! (O My servants fear Me). Is it not like this? “Fear Me”, meaning keep your adab. Keep the adab. Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar wa Lillahi l-Hamd. May all burdens on us be lifted. Our son, Shaykh Mehmet Effendi. Let us see what they will make us speak. ‘Ismau wau”, listen and keep what you listen. “‘Ismau wau fa idha ra’aytum fantafiu”. If you listen, you take benefit- it is such a benefit that no one else can give you that benefit. Thanks be to Allah, thanks be to our Lord. Allahu Akbar.
You are Subhan, O Lord. You are Sultan, O Lord. You are Who creates, O Lord. You granted us from Your love & longing, O my Lord. He granted His Habib (sallAllahu alayhi wasalam), and from His Habib (sas) came to us the love, to love, the muhabba/love, the mubabbatuLlah/love of Allah, the love of the Habib (sas), the love of the awliya. O yaran! Dive into the oceans of love, to take from it. Dunya is not something to love. Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar. What benefit comes from loving the stones, the mountains, the oxen, the cows of dunya? It has no benefit. The muhabba, the love- the love for the Beloved of Allahu Dhu-l Jalal. O glorious Prophet! (sallAllahu alayhi wasalam) May he accept us too, may we be under his feet too. May we be filled with his love & longing. Who doesn’t have love & longing is like a dry log, son. What benefit can come from a dry log, what can it be? Allahu Allah Allahu Rabbi ma li siwahu. Illa Hu.
People now are lost and confused about themselves. They have fallen into a bewildered state. They are after the trash of dunya, they want to collect from that trash. Ok, collect and pile! What benefit does the Empire of China give to the Chinese people? What does the power of a savage bring to his country, to his people? What does India bring to the Indians? Nothing! Nothing! Nothing. Ask. Ask. Look to what will be gained. Look to our Lord, look to our Lord’s Beloved, to His Habib (sallAllahu alayhi wasalam). Run after him so that you can get what you want to get, so that you gain power, so that beauty is dressed on you. Beauty is the grant of Rabbu-l Izzat. He dressed it on His Habib (sallAllahu alayhi wasalam).
No one can reach the beauty ocean of the Habib (sallAllahu alayhi wasalam). If he does, he will drown. If he does, he will get drowned. Allahu Akbar. O our Lord! May You forgive us. Don’t make us run after this dirty dunya. It has nothing. It has nothing. What does it have? What will you do with gold, with silver? Will they put it in your grave, O man? What will you do with them? Don’t be after gold & silver but be after the love of the Sultan of the Prophets (sallAllahu alayhi wasalam). You too, dive into the ocean of love and you may be filled with love. What you may get from dunya- What is the goods that the Sultan of the Prophets (sallAllahu alayhi wasalam) brought? It is the love of Allah. The Sultan of the Sultans, our Master (sallAllahu alayhi wasalam)! He didn’t bring you the soil, the stones of the earth. No. What can happen with them? Take it, this mountain is yours. Take it, these animals are yours. What is their benefit for you?
What you will take is that of the Habib (sallAllahu alayhi wasalam)- whom He loved and who, inside that love, dived into the ocean- our Master (sallAllahu alayhi wasalam). Dive into that ocean of love into which he dived. Dive into the glorification oceans of He Who created him. Or else, take this dunya! Take it! Say “this mountain is yours”. Can I carry that mountain on my shoulders? No. “This mountain is yours. These animals are also yours”. Who loves the animals is animal. Who loves the animals? Animals do. Who loves the one who is up, who loves the Habib takes from his light, takes from his love & his longing. Look to that one. O our Lord, may You forgive us. O our Lord! May You accept us to be Your servants. May we do Your service. How beautiful it is to be a servant to Allah. Shaykh Mehmet Effendi, how beautiful it is to be a servant of Allah. How beautiful it is to serve Allah. How beautiful it is to be filled with love & longing!
What can we do with dunya’s mountains, hills? What can we do with its oceans? What we want is our hearts to be filled with His love & longing. May we run to serve our Lord with the love of servanthood. This is what we want. Do you have this? You don’t. You are running after the soil of this earth. Don’t run after it. Don’t run after gold and silver. Don’t run after women, don’t run after men. Don’t run after palaces. Don’t run after any of the earthly things. They are all things of no value. They are all of no value. What is valuable is the love of the Habib. Carry the love of Allah’s beloved one. That is the real merit. What is dunya? It is WC. What do the people in dunya do? They fill the WC. What is it that they do? They eat, drink and fill the WC. O Man! Was that your real doing? Was eating, drinking and filling the WC your real doing? Shame on you. Shame on you. The ego imprisons man and our spirituality pulls us up. May Allah grant us spirituality, son. Instill it, give it and don’t fear. Fatiha.
Read for me, Shaykh Mehmet. Read, son. Read.
May we enter the category of angels. Angels don’t have the need to eat or drink. Make dua for me. What can we do? One day we will pass away too. We will leave the dirty dunya. But let us perform our mission. Let us set out on the way of the Habib(sallAllahu alayhi wasalam) of the Lord of Majesty. Let us follow his traces, let us carry his love. Let us carry from his life. Let us be honoured with his honour- of the Habib of Allah. Well done to those who can do it. May Allah increase your love, Shaykh Mehmet Effendi. Send salams.
