Mawlana Rumi

Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim

Mawlana Sheikh Mehmet Adil (QS), sohbat, February 19, 2015.

Mawlana

As-salamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuh.

Audhu Billahi min ash-shaitani rajim. Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim. As-salatu wa salamu ala Rasulina Muhammad Sayyidi l-awwalin wa l-akhirin. Madad ya RasulAllah, madad ya Sadati Ashabi RasulAllah, madad ya Mashaykhina, dastur, Mawlana Sheikh Abdullah Dagestani , Mawlana Sheikh Nazim al-Haqqani, dastur.

• Jalaluddin Rumi, he is one of the biggest Sheikh, murshid and teacher.

Masha’Allah, we see these children and their Sheikh, making Jalaluddin Rumi way sama. Whirling, whirling derwish. This is good for teaching them good things from small age, beginning to learn nice thing. Because Jalaluddin Rumi, he is one of the biggest Sheikh, murshid and teacher. His father also was very big murshid, very religious scholar, alim in his time. And you know, many people they don’t know they come from Balkh. It is area Balkh. It is very far from Konya. His father, he was Sheikh of Sultan in Balkh.

Sultan was happy with him, but at the end, when Sultan don’t want to listen to him, he said, “I must go from there”. Because his father also big awliya, told Sultan to not fight with Mongols. Must be, ask them what they want. But Sultan, he was proud and not listening to him, so he said “I am leaving, you can do what you want because I know it will be not good for people here.” So he take his family and went to Konya but in many places he stopped. After 7 years he arrived to Konya and many years after, in Konya, his father he passed away.

And Mawlana, he was very connected with his father. He was very sad. Long time he didn’t speak to anybody until he slowly, slowly opened again. Time of his father was where he giving speech in mosque. All Konya people coming, listening. Ulama, scholar, mashayikh, they coming and listening to his father. He was his teacher also. Mawlana Jalaluddin Rumi’s teacher, teaching him from the books of knowledge. All knowledge he was showing him. Every book he was giving him exactly meaning and wisdom.

He was in highest in knowledge around. After his father he was the highest one. All the ulama, they’re waiting him to give them lessons, when sheikh, but he was unhappy, so he couldn’t do this for a long time. After slowly, slowly, he began and he was like his father. All ulama accepting him, they are happy with him. Everywhere was full up. You cannot find a place in mosque to listen to him. They were coming, sitting outside also. But he was feeling he needs more. It was not enough for him, this knowledge, because knowledge is not enough to know, and to be in real love with Allah.

• So he was seeing in his dream, in Damascus, Shams Tabrizi.

There must be somebody teaching. So he was seeing in his dream, in Damascus, Shams Tabrizi. Unfortunately, we won’t speak too much in detail but after this Shams Tabrizi coming to Konya and meeting him there. And he accept him to be his guide to true love. But of course his type of speaking, or behaving, or wearing, it was different from that area and people, they weren’t happy with him. And he was giving himself completely to Shams Tabrizi and was making khalwat and speaking with him.

Sometimes days they are not going out, only speaking. So people were not happy at all with Shams Tabrizi. Ulama, everybody, they are angry and said “He take our Sheikh from us. He’s not good man. How Mawlana following him?” They were not happy with Shams Tabrizi. Long story to say but the main thing is that Mawlana was in highest place in knowledge, in ilm. And he was knowing the value of Shams Tabrizi and he was not listening to anybody. At the end of course, some people, they make Shams Tabrizi shave and they disappear him. Nobody can find him, where he is.

• The Mathnawi Shareef

Of course, for Mawlana Jalaluddin Rumi it was a terrible thing but because he was learning from Shams Tabrizi to accept everything, he was patient and he put his pain to be away from his guide, his teacher and the most loved one in the world. It is not easy but from teaching of Shams Tabrizi, he was carrying this. And he write many books. The famous one, the Mathnawi Shareef. Mathnawi, it is real incredible book. It is teaching and showing the finest details in human being. There are many stories, many wisdoms, it is really very nice book, it is poems. He make it in poem, more than 5,000-6,000 piece, poems.

It is beginning from poem, speaking about bamboo because they make this ney from it. Describing that it was in bamboo field and somebody coming, cutting it. In this he also described himself. After they make opening on its body to make hole. After this they putting in oven, burning little bit. After this it is making this sad, nice voice coming from the ney. First it must suffer to be different from other. This is from his teaching, nice teaching. Many stories also inside this book. Some of them funny but it’s nice, very nice.

I will speak one other. They say one time there was one trader in one place and he was broke, aflas, and because people, they know him he’s trader, so he was going here and there and taking, saying, “I give you later”, and he don’t have money. He couldn’t give anything but people, they were angry and said for government “This man making this for us”. So what they will do? Old time there is custom. City, old time it’s not big, maybe in one day they all can go around and tell people for this man.

They put him on camel. One camel, it was belonging to one Kurdish man. They put this man on top of camel and Kurdish man, he going with him. And another man, old time no media, so one strong voice, he was announcing to people, “O people, this man he is broke, don’t give him anything, if he wants, none, or if he want something, he says “I will give you later”. Don’t give him because you cannot get it anymore and government not responsible for this.” Every small street, everywhere from morning until nighttime, they were going and this Kurdish man, the owner of camel, together.

So it must be, everybody they hear about this man. And night time, they said “Ok, finished.” And say to this man “Ok, you go”. Because old time: al muflasun la yahbasun. If anybody is broke, you cannot put him in jail. So he want to leave and go, this Kurdish man who owned camel. He said “Give me my wages, all day I was with you. All day I’m tired, give me my money.” They said, “What are you talking about? Today from morning to evening, there was this man announcing, you didn’t hear?”

Mawlana Rumi is showing this about people who are in life. Every minute Allah gives them example, “Don’t do this, don’t do that. Do this, do that.” And at the end, they are coming without anything. This is the loser, like this man. So he is teaching millions of people. Non- Muslims also, they are interested for this book. They are attracted for this whirling dancing also. Many people became Muslim also from this. And he was real ahl al-sunnah wa l-jama’a. He was against these pretending people. Alhamdulillah tonight, maybe from these people his baraka is coming on us. From his baraka also.

Wa min Allahi tawfeeq. Al-Fatiha.

Salat and Salam

Sultan ul-Awliya Mawlana Sheikh Muhammad Nazim Al-Haqqani An-Naqshibandi (qs), Sohbat – 1989.

Mawlana Shaykh Nazim - Salatu Salam

(Dhikr Allah) is the means to sweeten our lives. Whoever makes dhkir for Allah and recites salawat sharif for our Prophet, alaihi s-salatu wa s-salam, their lives and lifetimes will be both blessed and sweetened.

Whoever wants a blessed and a sweet life must hold their tongues from empty words. When one keeps oneself busy with empty and useless deeds, it impoverishes one. Moreover useless talking shortens life. It lessens the baraka of a lifetime. Dhikr Allah gives Baraka/blessing to your life. It gives health to your body. Therefore, busy yourselves with dhikr/remembrance of Allah as much as possible. Busy yourselves with reciting salatu salam to our Prophet too. Because when we say “la ilaha illa Llah”, we go to His Presence saying “Muhammadun Rasulullah”. La ilaha ill Llah. When we make dhikr of Janabul Haqq we say “Muhammadun Rasulullah”. We will greet him too, with salatu salam. Janab Allah will not accept the tawhid of those who don’t say Muhammadun Rasulullah. Whoever says “La ilaha illa Llah” must continue with “Muhammadun Rasulullah” (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam).

Because in the Divine Diwan/court of Janabul Haqq there is no one else who can reach to the station of our Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam). Janab Allah has granted the highest honour to our Prophet, to whom He said “My Habib”, My beloved one. The highest honour belongs to him. He is the greatest. Among all creation, there is no one greater than him, more honourable than him, more valuable and more worthy than him. Just as he is valuable in Janab Allah’s Presence, he is high, honourable and glorious, so Allah wants His servants to keep the Prophet like this. That is why as much as you honour our Prophet, Janabul Haqq is that much pleased by your honouring, presenting your respect and admiration to our Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam). There is no limit for this.

We are ahlu sunnah wal jamaa. Upon sunnah; both our belief and our religious practice depends on ahl as-sunnah wal jamma, inshaAllahu r-Rahman. So to what extent can we honour our Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam)? Apart from naming him as God, except calling him God, you can honour him as much as you like. Don’t call him Allah. Christians were confused to accept their Prophet as God and to make people accept him as God. They fell into the wrong way, they went astray. Jews didn’t show the necessary respect for their prophet, so they became “maghdubun alayhim” (1:7). “Maghdubun alayhim” Divine Wrath descended on them.

We are Muslims. All deeds of Muslims, all religious beliefs, all practices are reasonable, reliable and correct. So how much can you show your respect to our Prophet? Do as much as you can but don’t call him God like the Christians call their prophet, God. But do call him the greatest – among created beings he is the highest, the most beloved, the most valuable one. His greatness cannot be known completely even by prophets, awliyas and campanions. Only Janabul Haqq knows the greatness given to our Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam). This is why Allah wants: “Whenever My Name is mentioned let your name be mentioned too, O My Habib.” This is what Allah wants. So whoever makes dhikr for Allah let him recite salatu salam for our Prophet also. Dhikr is glorifying Janab Allah. Salatu salam is to honour our Prophet (sallAllahu alaihi wa sallam).

As much as you can recite it relieves you from the troubles of the material world. Relief/joy is given to your spirituality, and the Divine Breath of Al Haqq, life is blown to your being. You may discover a different state. So take this into consideration! Keep the daily dhikr and salatu salam of our Prophet properly if you want comfort, peace, happiness, and a sweet life.

Otherwise you cannot get it by money. Money doesn’t sweeten life. Don’t be a fool! Those are the words of a fool! Don’t think that people have a sweet life when they have lots of money. It is faulty judgement, it is foolishness, to think like that. No! Whose life is sweet? Whoever makes more dhikr, whoever recites more salatu salam to the Prophet, their lives become sweet. Not the ones who have a lot of money. Come to your senses! O believers! Say Allah! Recite salatu salam on the Prophet. It sweetens, softens and beautifies life. There will be nothing to hurt you. Thorns won’t hurt strongly, but pass by gently. By Divine Will thorns will be passed over softly and won’t hurt. They will be softened. Say Allah! May Peace be upon the Prophet!

Bi hurmati l-Habib bi hurmati l-Fatiha.

Hudhur Ma Shaykh and Rabita Sharifa

Bismillahi r-Rahmani r-Rahim

Sultan ul-Awliya Mawlana Shaykh Muhammad Nazim Al-Haqqani An-Naqshibandi (QS)

The venerable Khwaja Muhammad Nazim (Qs) said,

InshaAllah this is a technique which will be useful to all of you after I leave your physical presence and go away. You will be in need of this technique. In this life, our physical meetings shall come and go. It is not possible for a person to always be in company with another person, whether they be husband and wife, parents and children, brothers and sisters or amongst the most beloved one. A person may never desire to be far away from his loved ones. However, it is written that it should take place, Firaq, means separation and at sometimes everyone must enter and depart. As far as our physical bodies are concerned it is written that we cannot be together always. It is just not possible. However, spiritually we have been given a power and technique by Allah Almighty to be always together at anytime that anyone may ask for such a meeting. This is possible because our spirituality has a possibility to be in connection. When we remember that person, our spiritual being always will be able to be in such a connection with that person.

These connections have so many levels. Perfect Awliya are always in connection with RasulAllah (peace be upon him). Anytime they want such a connection they should find themselves immediately in the holy presence of RasulAllah (sal lallahu alaihi wa salam). They never leave RasulAllah’s spiritual presence. This technique is known as Hudhur Ma Rasul – that is; connection with the Holy Prophet upon whom be peace, people belonging to Tariqat are stepping in this direction to obtain such a connection.

As we are just beginners, we should first practice an easy way. This easy way is Hudur-Ma-Shaykh; that is to be in connection with your Shaykh. Anytime that you think of your Shaykh, you may say “I am in the holy presence of my Grand Shaykh”. At first you may not see him, but a feeling of his presence may be felt by you. These feelings are of different levels. A simple connection is to feel your Shaykh’s presence always then gradually you may come to the level of feeling the breathing of your Shaykh. Then further on you may see your Shaykh in front of you making the Dhikr ‘Allah, Allah’ and thereby giving power to you and you look at him and follow him. Then you will be present with your Shaykh for your entire life. Thereafter you shall find yourself in the presence of the whole circle of the lovers of your Grand Shaykh.

Then when that connection becomes perfect you will be able to see your Shaykh sitting with you, coming with you, going with you, being with you, being in you and surrounding you, then the Shaykh shall be in you. You will then become changed to the personality of your Shaykh. That is known as Fana-u-fi-Shaykh. You will leave your being and the personality and power of your Shaykh will appear through yourself and then you become the Representative of your Shaykh. Then, your Shaykh, through that personality will take you to the Holy Presence of RasulAllah (sal lallahu alaihi wa salam). Then RasulAllah (sal lallahu alaihi wa salam) will dress you in his spiritual body and then you will become the Representative of RasulAllah (sal lallahu alaihi wa salam). RasulAllah (sal lallahu alaihi wa salam) is Dahir, He appears through yourself. Then, RasulAllah (sal lallahu alaihi wa salam) will take you to Hudhur-al-Haq (the presence of The Truth, to the Divine Presence of The Lord Allah Almighty). Allah Almighty will then dress you with Divine Light and then you become annihilated in Allah (Fana-u-fillah). Then you will be leaving everything in yourself and Divine Lights will appear through yourself and you will then become Khalifatullah (Representative of Allah). You shall then represent Allah to the whole universe and then He shall give this power to you (ayat) “tassarusal tasliq”– that is to be able to do everything throughout the whole of creation and through all the universes according to His Divine Will. That is Khalifatullah. All the Laws and Shariat that has been sent down through the Prophets and Ambiyas are to teach people and guide people to this station. When you reach the station of Khalifatullah, you achieve the final aim of all Shariat and all Tariqat.
